Archive for August, 2012

I was having a lag-tastic day at the Vintage Fair (in part because of computer issues), so I could only shop for a few minutes before I had to log off and repeat the process.   I did finally manage to score a few bits to share.  The lovely dress I’m wearing is the Fishtail Gown by 1-800-BETTIE’s Vintage Clothing, and it only cost me 10L.  The store has quite a few lovely outfits for 10L, including the one I’m wearing below.

Day Suit in blue with MESH Black Spectator Pumps

NV Corsetry had provided a beautiful Black and White Tartan MESH Corset as a free gift for the event.

I paired it with a v-neck shirt that was a old Kennedy’s group gift for Womenstuff,  a pair of black MESH skinny jeans from Multiple Personality Designs that were 1L, and my favorite Leopard print stiletto shoes from StarChild (free group gift).

A quick post to let you know of some changes to my blog.

– Name change:  “Running Free with Bris” was never really doing it for me.  It was the only thing I could come up with at the time, so I just went with it.  I’ve always called myself a “Frugal Fashionista”, so I decided that would be the name of this blog.  It flows so much better.

– Header:  For obvious reasons, but I also wanted a different look.  I may change the background image someday, but it’s not my #1 priority.  Credit for all of the pretty (except font) goes to Shabby Princess.

Changes to happen in the near future:

-Photography Section:  I’ve been wanting to post all of the photos I have taken in Second Life, but just never bothered to create a section for them.   A bunch of them will mostly be rejects from when I photographed clothing for my blog.  Some may be test photos of random things in SL as I explore this hobby.  I will most likely share any old thing that I like.  I hope to have this done within the next day or so.

-Articles:  Huge maybe on this one, but I would like to expand on this blog some more with tips, reviews, designer/store showcases, etc.   Be a little more than just a “Lookie at what I found, because it’s cheap/free!” blog.  It would all depend on my free time as well.

-Wall of Awesome: Since I dedicated nearly a entire paragraph for this one designer, I thought it would be cool to have a page dedicated to those who make Second Life a more awesome place.  I am still ironing out the details on what you would need to accomplish in order to go on there, but I find a lot of people awesome for many different reasons, so I probably won’t be so choosy.

There are a lot more that I had planned, but I am taking baby steps.  I just want to make this blogging experience enjoyable as well as meaningful.  Stay tuned for some awesomeness that I plan on bringing your way. 🙂

Exhausted

The 1st Life me is pretty much like this too.

I’ve had a crazy month and while it is still a bit hectic, I can actually afford some quality time in my favorite virtual world.  Just in time too since there’s the Vintage Fair (WOOHOO!!!) and The Wash’s Biannual Cart Sale going on.  I will be broke, but with a extensive wardrobe.   I already did some shopping in the Vintage Fair, but I will tell you more about that later.

For now I just want to take the time to give props to a store called Vanguard.  I recently purchased an item that looked great in the photo, but not so great when I was wearing it.  So I sent a note card to the owner, not expecting a refund because, like most SL stores, their policy was not to refund unless you accidentally bought a duplicate.  Not too long after I had sent the notecard, the owner contacted me with an apology and she also refunded me despite her policy.   Thanks Rollyn for your awesome customer service. 🙂

Anyway, I’m going my merry way to spend my money on awesomeness.
