Archive for March, 2012

Between major computer issues and a nasty cold, it is no wonder that I would be reduced to tears.  Fortunately this is the season to come up with a perfect excuse for the weepies.   But I was instantly cheered when I had walked into Mother Goose’s and found all sorts of fabulous skin freebies as well as a couple of dollarbies.  Wait for your letter to show up on the many lucky boards, or browse the baskets in the back for beautiful skins.  I’m currently wearing “Nadine”, which I can also blame my tears on.  BCC has quite a selection of freebies.  Join their group, and you can enjoy a few of their group gifts (group is free to join by the way) and they have a couple of lucky boards and old hunt items.  My YUKI eye lashes and MICO HULip  gloss for 1L were found there.  I do urge you to check out their non-freebies, because they have some adorable items.  My hair is called “Maya” and you can find this beauty at D!va along with other previous group gifts.  It comes in a variety of colors (color I’m currently wearing is ‘rhodolite’ ) and you can adjust the size and toggle the ribbon on and off as well as change the texture.

I was nosing around the FabFree HQ and I found this lovely Lu dress by Agnes Finney.  If you haven’t heard of the FabFree blog, then I suggest you check it out.  They pretty much do what I’m doing right now, and letting you know where you can get your hands on some free or cheap goodies.  The HQ has almost over 100 freebies that designers have exclusively provided for FabFree, so I’d check that out too, if I were you.

Honey Suckle

Put a little spring in your step with this cute little dress that I have found in this awesome store called Multiple Personality Designs.   It comes in a fatpack with 4 other spring friendly colors shown below.

Cedar, Coffee, Quary, and Phlox

They each come with a pair of black ballet flats and you can choose one color for 1L or get the entire pack for 5L.   I could just go on about Multiple Personality Designs, heck even their sim, which the most expensive thing I’ve found so far is 25L  So you can’t go wrong.  (I think the texture store is the only exception)   I even paired them up with some cute accessories.

Every girl should have at least a little bling.

You can grab these Splash Bangles by Lunish Cats for free from the Womenstuff Group Gift board located in Maverick Designs and the Princess Necklace came from AR Designs, though I don’t exactly recall where I found it, I assume that it was a free gift from the FabFree HQ.    I thought my free Wynona hair by A&A went well with the whole ensemble.   It comes with a resizing HUD, which also allows you to change your streak color.

Click on the poster to find out more about this awesome event.

I had decided to check out The Cart Sale that most of my fave freebie fashion blogs were raving about.  I am so glad that this is a virtual world where bags are not required.  I don’t think I would have been able to fit everything in a car.  Just in case you haven’t even heard of The Cart Sale, it’s a shopping event that is currently located in The Wash.   All items that are located in the carts are 10L or less and they have a great selection.  While you are there, hop on by to the FabFree Headquarters.   FabFree is a freebie blog and with the help of some awesome designers, they provide some really awesome stuff for 0L.  They have some awesome stuff show cased, so I suggest you check out their blog, because they have a lot of good stuff.  Okay, I’ll shut up now and share these little gems that I’ve found.   I might show more once I get the time to get the pictures.

This is perhaps my favorite find at The Cart Sale.  The Rockabillie Red Dottie Dress by Evilkyoot was practically begging me to purchase it in all of its polka dotted glory.  It comes with the lovely red rose that you could wear in your hair, giving it classy touch.  Rock it for just 10L.

I also found this Scene women’s necklace by Option at The Cart Sale, also for 10L.  I love it when my jewelry is simple, and it seems to add a nice touch to the dress.  I love the skin I’m currently in, which is the Hisaki by Heartsick and it comes with 3 different shades and the Love Shape.  All of this was a free gift through the Forbidden Love Hunt which lasts until March 12, so I would hurry and get it now if I were you.  My shape, is also from Heartsick, was a shape/skin combo called Juliet. It was free though group membership, which is only 10L to join.   My hair was a freebie from Alli & Ali Design (Marketplace only) and it’s called Lana.   While I’m at it, I could rave about Glamorize, which is where I found my  Sweet eye make up for $1, but I plan to do that in another post because I practically hit the jack pot.  It is also where some of my photos come from.  Love it, love it, love it!  With every great outfit, you will need a great pair of shoes.  Patula’s House offers that in this free pair of shoes, provided via Marketplace.  They come with an HUD to adjust the color of skin and nails as well as the size.  They also come with a few poses, which I haven’t really explored yet, but I plan to do it as soon as I log back in.

I had every intention of posting a few of my freebies (or nearly free) in my first post, but I figured it was wordy enough.   Today one of my little gems is Chaos Chick by *Gothica*

Chaos Chick by *Gothica*

She is a full avatar and comes with everything, you see on her, except for the eyes, and best of all, she was only 1L.  Not only was she such a bargain, but I probably use her shape more than what I have in my growing collection.

A view from behind.

Top, skirt, necklace, arm tattoos.

Her clothes are not normally my style, but I think they are growing on me.

Stockings and shoes. I love the glow.

I like her hair, I really love the fact that the hat is separate.

Hello, Bris here and I just want to welcome you to Running Free with Bris.

I will own up to being a bit of a cheapskate in both Real Life and Second Life. If I can get it for cheap or, better yet, free then I’m one happy camper.  Sadly, when I first started out in SL, it was hard to find anything of decent quality that was in my limited L$ or for free.  It is especially hard for me to find something of good quality that wasn’t just plain trashy.  I strive for class, after all.

Recently, I have set myself on a mission.  That mission was to create an entire wardrobe of free or nearly free clothing.  My spending limit was set to at most 10 L$.  Did I expect it to be easy?  No, I had some pretty realistic expectations of what I was searching for.  I expected to give up before I could even get started.  As it turns out, it was actually easier than I thought.  Sure, it was still pretty challenging, but not impossible.

The first thing I did was that I checked my favorite stores.  Sometimes they have special promos, especially if you are a member of their group.  I absolutely love the stores that have monthly group gifts.  Sascha’s Designs is one example, and I will tell you more about her designs as I blog about my adventures in frugality.

Another thing I did was to get to know the Marketplace.  In the beginning of my mission, it was where I acquired nearly all of my finds.  Go to the left side, choose your category and your price range.  They even have a 0L$-10L$  category, which made my life so much simpler.  It was a little hard for me to find what I was looking for, but you can find a lot of great things in the SL Marketplace for free or cheap.

Lastly, I had discovered hunts.  That was my best discovery in SL.  Hunts are probably the largest source of all my free stuff.  I can’t begin to start on how much I love hunts.  I had even found an awesome little blog called SL Hunts.  They inform you of upcoming hunts that will be happening throughout Second Life.  Also, while I did say most of my free stuff comes from hunts, not all hunt objects are free.  Fortunately, all the non-free ones only cost 1L$ for each gift, so they still fit in with my 0-10 limit.

What I hope to do with this blog is to not only showcase my finds, or to tell you how to get them, but also to introduce all the amazing designers that create them.  Not many are willing to provide such great pieces for so little money, so I’m much more appreciative of those who do.
